The Problem of Oromo Struggle - By Waamicha Sikkoo Mandoo

Internal in its sense of “within Ethiopia” and “within Oromo” and external in sense of the influence of international politics on our struggle. Why is it that when almost all nations of Africa ,Asia ,and Latin America have got rid of their colonizers, we Oromos are still under Abyssinian colonialist? Surely the British Empire was much stronger than Abyssinia yesterday or today, but many nations of Asia and Africa have, along a go, thrown the yoke of colonialism off their shoulders. Without any doubt, Russia, even as it stands today, is much stronger than both the Amhara and Tigriyan dynasties lumped together. But chechniyans have heroically confronted the Russians and have beaten them. Russians are superior to the Chechniyans not only militarily ,technologically, but by their sheer number too. The Russian population of about 300 million, is many hundred folds than that of the chechniyans, still the chechniyans determined to be free, have done miracle. They have defeated the superior Russians and have obtained their freedom. ...

The Asmara Group schism should not divide the Oromo people

The Asmara Group, which is dishonestly continuing to call itself the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF), has been split into two albeit to advance the programmes of the enemies of the Oromo struggle. Both factions of the Asmara Group openly pledge allegiance to Ethiopia rather than Oromia. Their allegiance to Ethiopia has been further symbolized by their repeated waving of the Ethiopian flag at meetings and public rallies in London, Washington DC and elsewhere. The OLF stands for independent Oromia not Ethiopia. Thus, we would like to reiterate once again that the factions of the Asmara Group cannot call themselves the OLF...

A cry for prudence, courage and wisdom to Oromos and Oromo leaders to solve the Current impasse - Marga Abba Dame

Many of us, when we evaluate the performance of the OLF leaders, especially after the 1991 involvement in the transitional government and subsequent withdrawal, tend to forget the contribution of these leaders to the growth of Oromo nationalism. Despite the current air of dissatisfaction, we have to remind ourselves the sacrifices these leaders have made. Truly, many of them have given up their own personal life to the struggle. These guys would have liked to have children of their own. Yet many of them have went into their 50s and even 60s without having one. These guys would have liked to have a villa of their own and cherished their times with their beloved ones, as majority of us are doing these in the countryside or in Diaspora. Instead, they chose to be homeless and fly from one place to another when forced by circumstances. These guys would have liked to roam from one university to another to have more degrees and enjoy the life intelligentsia. Instead they preferred to carry books in the jungle to have a glance at it if a rare of chance come to them. These guys would have liked to drive the best cars that our time can offer. Yet many of them preferred to walk in the jungle and deserts barefoot. These guys would have liked to be businessmen, and enjoyed the comfort of luxury hotels and restaurants. Yet they left all these comfort that most of us are enjoying. These guys would have liked to comfort their own parents, uncles, aunts, nieces, and their relatives by sending money from outside. Instead they chose the life of suffering and personal destitution to liberate us from the tyranny of our rulers. Many of them chose to be martyrs in the hands of their enemy while others committed suicide rather than falling in the hands of an enemy. To our surprise, these guys are more capable than most of us to be able to achieve all the comfort of life....
